The do's and don'ts about taking an ITP-TOEFL

THE DO'S AND DON'TS ABOUT TAKING AN ITP-TOEFL TEST

Attention to All Test-Takers: Please read the following note carefully:

 1 All IT students, be it undergraduate or postgraduate can enroll for the test organised every two months. Currently (Dec. 08), the test fee is 1,050 Baht, depending on the exchange rate US$: baht. You will receive the receipt on the test date. The test fee is subject to change without further notice. You can't cancel your seat after applying.
2 You can check the test timetable either on SIT web www.sit.kmutt.ac.th, or on our web www.sit.kmutt.ac.th/ELCS. The timetable is subject to change without further notice. Or simply phone us at 0-2470-9866. You can't claim your test fee back or ask for the seat in the next available test if
     1. You don't turn up for whatever reasons on the test date.
     2. You are 20 minutes late on the test date: 16.20 hrs, and the supervisor will not allow you to enter the room. In this case, the supervisor would call any stand-by student(s) to take the empty seat(s). This arrangement is at the discretion of the authorities. The stand-by students need not pay for the test fee.
In either case, you can only get the receipt with your name on. Please come and collect the receipt within 7 days of the test date.
3  For your information, the TOEFL company demands us to pay for the test materials soon after we place the order. If you'd like to take the test, you must pay us before the closing date of each test.  Please bear in mind that the closing date of each test is only a suggested date.  If you plan to graduate within that particular month, do enrol very well in advance before the closing date to avoid disappointment since the demand for seats is usually high and the number of seats available in test rooms is limited. 
     In other words, the tesing room can be full long before the suggested closing date.  During the M.Sc. holiday break, ELCS may set up more testing rooms.  However this practice cannot usually be done during tern time due to a shortage of suitable testing rooms.  So, register early to avoid disappointment.  You can check the amount of each test's fully registered ITP-TOEFL test takers on our web site or simply phone us.		  
4 If you wish, you can deposit the test fee into our ELCS account / Bank of Ayudhya / English Language Coordinating Section / 330-1-23091-1. You must not forget to fax us the pay-in slip at once to guarantee your seat. If we don't receive your slip, we can't guarantee the seat for you even though you have already paid through the bank. This is because we don't update our book everyday. Before faxing your slip, please write your name in English, code and state the test date you wish to take the test. After faxing it, please phone us to confirm if we receive it. There's a case whereby we didn't receive the fax and you thought the fax went though successfully.
       If this sounds troublesome for you, you can come to pay in person at ELCS office. Our office hours : 8.30-20.00 hrs./Mon.-Fri. and 9.00-13.00 hrs./ Sat.-Sun. during the term time.		  
5 It's your responsibility to check if your name is on the list of ITP-test-takers of each test date. All these are shown on the SIT web and ELCS web at least 10 days before the test date. If you have your email address, please state.
      The test begins at 16.00 hrs. sharp. Thus, you must come to your testing room at least 20 minutes before the test begins.  Please be aware that a scanner is now operated.  You will be scanned by our procters before the actual test begins.  This process does take time to complete, especially when we have over 168 test takers!  Don't be late.		  
6   On the test date, if you can, try not to exhaust yourself. Working all day and taking the very long test in the evening are tiring.

Pls. do not bring anything into the test room:

  •  No handbags
  •  No mobile phone
  •  No pencil case, eraser, pencils, ruler, etc.
  •  No labtop

Pencils and eraser will be provided on your chair. Do not take them back home as souvenirs. They are for future use. Pls. show your student card or id card in test room.

  You can't take the thumbdrive, the book, cassette tape recorder, lady's handbag, mobile phone, or any forms of bags into the testing room. If you do, you'll be asked to leave the testing room.
8   You can't leave the testing room before your test book and answer sheet are collected.
9 You can expect to hear the test result from the TOEFL company within the week after the test date if there are no technical problems e.g. the machine is out of order. But remember the first result we receive is unofficial. If you plan to graduate, the School will not take any action until ELCS receive the official score record. ELCS normally receives the score within ten-twelve working days after having received the unofficial score. Please collect it in person at our office.  
10  If you plan to graduate this term, please take the test early. It's not advisable to wait till late since the official result may not arrive in time for you. You are strongly advised not to pressurize us or our School staff for the official score record since we have no power to force the TOEFL company.
11   If the unofficial result is somehow different from the official score record, the Section and the School will not hold any responsibility and will only recognise the official score record. For example, if the unofficial one shows that you have 500 or more but the official one shows you have less than 500, the School and the Univ. would accept only the official one*. Should this unfortunate case happen, our advice to you would be that you will have to take another test. You will also have to pay the test fee. *Should this unfortunate case happen, you can't demand from us, the School, and the Univ. that you have already graduated.
12  To get 500 or more, you must work very hard. If you don't,*see the right hand column.   * You can't graduate.
